I started creative writing in about 2005.

When my children were young I made up stories about a little boy (who wasn't me) based on my own childhood experiences. I had wondered about writing a memoir. The Idea grew in my mind and eventually in 2005 I started writing a tale about a man who had had nothing but bad luck in his life. There are elements on my own life in the story, I write from experience using people, places and situations from my past, I believe it adds credibility to a tale.
My first novel 'The Secret Studio' was originally a couple of chapters in the novel 'Luck', but as I wrote it the more the story grew. It eventually became the standalone book you see here. I had originally titled it 'Hand Job Secrets'. (When you read it you'll realise its not quite as rude as it sounds!) The next book in the 'Luck' series will be entitled 'Prisoner' and will hopefully be completed in mid 2019.
Tired after completing 'Studio' I turned my hand to short stories, trying them out on people at work. I got really positive reviews so I put together a collection of them entitled 'Once in Killmuckie and Other Stories'.
Discovering my job would be redundant in late 2018, I brought forward plans to start completing and publishing my work early. Originally slated for my retirement, I worked on several stories at the same time and promoted my work. All my work is available under writing
Since retiring in April 2023 I have completed all my partially written works which you can see on the home page and have been writing more short stories, concentrating on humour and science fiction. You can download novels here and short stories here.
I am an amateur writer, untrained and with no qualifications. I really believe that everyone has a story in them, I have lots. My only reason for writing is for the pleasure of it and for people to read them. My stories aren't edited by professionals (I can't afford them) and may contain the odd typo etc. Please forgive those little blips! (nor am I a web designer)
I am married, have three children, three grandchildren, no pets and live in Warrington. Cheshire (as they say in the back of books in the 'About the Author' section).
I have always been interested in cameras and photography ever since I dismantled my mum's Halina 6-4 camera and when I got my first job I bought my boss's old Quarz M movie camera. On this site I'll show some cameras in my collection, photos taken with them and articles on history and techniques, good resources for the beginners in film photography.
I also like making and playing ancient board games. In the games section I will introduce you to old games, explain the rules and give you print & play files so that you can play them yourself.
