Exposure Value on film cameras
Exposure Values – EV
Note that EV with digital cameras refers to something different, here I’m dealing with film only. Scroll to the bottom for the digital definition Exposure Values, originally called LV Light Value were introduced on Prontor shutters in 1954. Some cameras, particularly German ones with leaf shutters from the late 1950 and early 60s along with Hasselblads have an EV lock which locks the aperture and shutter speed together. The EV is read from a simple light meter (or table). set on the camera, so if you subsequently change either shutter or aperture it changes the other automatically. No calculations needed. |
