The book itself is based on a compilation of all my Rome stories featuring new chapters, back story and bridging all the short stories together in the form of letters to Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus. Nephew to Pliny the Elder. Lucia Amata was born during the reign of Nero. Daughter of a brothel keeper who died in childbirth, Lucia escapes that life and finds long lost famly. Her son Felix is a young seer and undergoes training by Nero's ex-auger. Set during the time of the building of the Colosseum, Lucia and Felix travel to Visit Pliny at his home by the beach just outside Naples. At Pliny's, Lucia and Felix witness the eruption of Vesuvius, are at the the opening of the Colosseum and the inaugural hundred days of games. Lucia's friend Leo returns from Africa with a rare herb that promises to change Rome's leisure time forever. |
